Artist statement:
The Way the Lilies Dance stands as a testament to the intertwining of memory, reflection, and the enduring presence of love within the sanctuary of home. This piece, meticulously crafted from mirrored acrylic, captures the essence of familial bonds and the cyclical nature of life. At its heart, "The Way the Lilies Dance” is a small rotating house adorned with laser-engraved images of lilies on all sides. As the house gently spins, the engraved lilies come to life, casting ethereal reflections onto the surrounding walls when illuminated by a spotlight. The interplay of light and motion creates a captivating dance, engulfing the space with a kaleidoscope of floral imagery.

The choice of materials is deliberate and symbolic. Mirrored acrylic symbolizes the reflective nature of memory, inviting viewers to contemplate their own journeys and connections to the past. The inclusion of a pewter casting for the front door, polished to resemble silver, adds a touch of elegance and serves as a poignant reminder of the value of memory. Beyond its aesthetic allure, "The Way the Lilies Dance" holds profound personal significance. It serves as a tribute to the love and legacy of my grandparent’s home– a constant sanctuary of joy. At the heart of the revolving home lies the poignant story of my beloved grandfather and the lilies he planted in the backyard with the assistance of my grandmother. Since his passing in 2021, the lilies they planted together continue to bloom each year, a vibrant testament to his presence and the love he poured into every aspect of our lives. In essence, this is more than just an art piece; it is a monument of my grandfather's legacy, the timeless beauty of familial bonds, and the resilience of love in the face of loss. Through this artwork, I invite viewers to embark on a journey of remembrance and reflection, honoring the cherished memories and timeless connections that continue to illuminate our lives.
